Portland

This weekend we went with the Anderson's and the Martin's to Portland and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We did plenty of eating...

Then we went shopping and shopping and then did a little more shopping...

The highlight of the weekend, and the purpose for the trip, was the JAZZ game. Although they didn't win we had a great time eating hot dogs, nachos and licorice rope. It's all about the experience.

To finish up the weekend, we had a relaxing morning by ordering breakfast in bed.

Kim visits

Kent's sister-in-law, Kim, came into town for about 20 hours. She flew in late at about 10:00 on Thursday night. At 6:30 Friday morning, she went to see "the dentist". The dentist gave her a 30 minute break for lunch where she and I had breakfast at Bon Vinos and shopped at Melange (I had to show her the highlights of Sunnyside while she was here). Then Kim went back to get some more work done until 2:00 when I picked her up from the office and we went directly to the airport to drop her off. Although she didn't stay very long, and it wasn't the most fun of agendas, I had a great time. I love spending time with Kim. She is such a genuine person. We had some good conversations and I can't wait until she comes back to finish her dental work! Thanks, Kim!

Book Club

Erin picked the book for this month's book club- "Rhett Butler's People".
It was kind of like "Gone With the Wind" from Rhett's point-of-view. Erin hosted book club at her house and did a wonderful job leading the discussion. Those of you that know Erin, know that she puts her heart into everything she does. There was no exception with book club. Her house looked perfect with rose petals and a little tuxedo. Enjoy the pictures!

This is Erin's lamp that we turned into "Scarlett O'Hara".

Bringin' the heat!

Last night we had some guests over for dinner. The last couple of times these friends have come over, things have not been so "perfect". We had pizza night once and then the next time they came over, I got sick and had my robe on when they arrived at the door! So this was going to be a "nice dinner". I called my mom and asked for her delicious chicken parmesan recipe and called my sister for her home made frennch bread recipe. I set the table with my new tablecloth and my favorite placemats then finished it with my grandmother's goblets. Here is a picture of what dinner looked like as our friends showed up!
I put some fried onions in the oven to toast and they caught on fire! When we opened the oven door the flames caught some air and expanded. Black smoke filled the house and the smoke alarm went off, scaring the little girls. We threw some baking soda on the flames (just as I was pulling out the camera) and the fire died. It was quite funny. I'm glad that our friend's will love us without condition. We had a great dinner and a good time. I just laugh that I was worried about which side of the plate to set the goblets on- that was the least of my problems. For future reference is it the right or left side?

Fun to look

Someday I'll have a kitchen of my own- not just a rental. Until then I'll have to just look at pictures like these...
