La Linea (The Line)

This is what our book club group read this month. This is a very humbling book. It was amazing to see what these people would have to go through to come from Mexico to the United States. It really hit home when Reagran told us the reason she chose this book for the month. This story was very similar to what her husband had to do to cross the border. Being in a community with a majority of people from Mexico, and some that have made their way here the same way the characters in this book did, helped me to be more compassionate with those that truly want to make a better lives for themselves and their children. There were some interesting points of view and a great discussion, over delicious food, between wonderful friends. This is Becky's last book club before she leaves us and moves to Yakima. We will miss her so much. PLEASE say you'll come see us!!

If you loved this book, then you MUST go see "Under the Same Moon." Most of it is in subtitles as they speak Spanish the whole time. But it is WELL worth the see. I loved it!

Of COURSE I will come visit!!! We timed it from our new house (if it goes through, of course) to where we live now- only 35 minutes!

I agree about the discussion that night- it was great to get another point of view- all different points of view.
