Last night we had some guests over for dinner. The last couple of times these friends have come over, things have not been so "perfect". We had pizza night once and then the next time they came over, I got sick and had my robe on when they arrived at the door! So this was going to be a "nice dinner". I called my mom and asked for her delicious chicken parmesan recipe and called my sister for her home made frennch bread recipe. I set the table with my new tablecloth and my favorite placemats then finished it with my grandmother's goblets. Here is a picture of what dinner looked like as our friends showed up!

I put some fried onions in the oven to toast and they caught on fire! When we opened the oven door the flames caught some air and expanded. Black smoke filled the house and the smoke alarm went off, scaring the little girls. We threw some baking soda on the flames (just as I was pulling out the camera) and the fire died. It was quite funny. I'm glad that our friend's will love us without condition. We had a great dinner and a good time. I just laugh that I was worried about which side of the plate to set the goblets on- that was the least of my problems. For future reference is it the right or left side?

Oh MY!!!! I am appreciating a good laugh...I just love you Nattie!!
on the right ... this I learned in the last 7 months
Natalie, on the right side above the spoon and knife. Sorry about your fire and glad all turned out ok
How funny! It reminds me of the Turkey drippings catching on fire on Thanksgiving this year. At least oven fires die down quickly. Oh- and I THINK the goblets go on the right side - - but don't quote me on it!
